Mission 

The Hospital Libraries Section of the Medical Library Association fosters excellence in the provision and management of information to support patient care and safety, hospital administration, professional and patient education, lifelong learning, and all research activities and scholarly endeavors in the healthcare environment.

Vision

To establish the hospital librarian as the key health sciences information partner on the patient care team and in the organization's healthcare decision-making environment.

Strategic Goals
  1. Promote and advance the value of hospital librarians to the healthcare organization in supporting
    a culture of patient safety.
  2. Advance excellence in hospital librarianship by providing professional development opportunities
    that integrate leadership skills and technical competencies in health sciences information
    management in order to position hospital librarians as leaders for the information professions.
  3. Collaborate with MLA to identify and act upon opportunities to improve health care information
    delivery so that hospital librarians can play an active and vital role in shaping the management
    of health sciences information for themselves and their customers.
  4. Identify resources and trends in healthcare and environments beyond healthcare that provide
    a competitive edge to our members.
  5. Maintain strategic alliances and partnerships with other professional associations to build a
    strong and vital global health information network.
